Welcome to Well Vale Country Ride

Off road riding in the east lincolnshire countryside

Well Vale Country Ride is an 8 mile off road ride with around 30 completely optional cross country jumps through beautiful Lincolnshire countryside. The ride takes you along grass strips around fields and through woodland. There are a number of loops to the ride, so shorter options are also available. Perfect for a leisurely ride through the countryside, enjoying the scenery and wildlife, with buzzards and deer frequently present, but with plenty of space and a variety of well-built jumps from 40-80cm for those wanting a faster and more exhilarating ride.

Bookings are limited to 4 horses per session so each rider gets space and time to enjoy their ride at their own pace. We also welcome carriage drivers - please contact us to book with a carriage.

We host various events, from pony club rides to pleasure driving events to livery yard outings to international endurance competitions. Please do get in touch if you would like to organise an event with us.

About our two Facilities

Well Vale Country Ride The ride is approximately 8 miles long and has 30 optional jumps. There is a mixture of mainly grass tracks in open countryside and woodland tracks. There are some stone tracks. Most of the ride is gently undulating but there is one short but quite steep uphill stretch towards the end. Carriage drivers and the nervous or novice horse and rider can bypass the steep section by following the ‘carriages’ signs at the bottom of the slope. See our gallery of some of the jumps on the ride. You can also see a map of the route. Please use this booking form for the country ride. Cross Country Schooling Field 110 fences ranging from 30cm to 1m plus. The course has been carefully designed by international event rider and BHS coach Kitty Hamilton to be suitable for all levels from young riders and young horses just starting cross country to those competing up to BE100/Novice level. There is a good water complex, steps and mounds and multiple ditches. Most fences have a range of height options. Bookings are for two-hour slots with a maximum of 4 horses booked in per slot. About us

We are located on the picturesque Well Vale Estate, on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB. Parts of the ride have spectacular views down to the coast. The ride is very rural but access is excellent, being located just 400m from the A1104 and 1.5 mile from Ulceby Cross roundabout. The ride has been set up across a private estate to enable other riders to share the beautiful, safe hacking that are enjoyed by the family. Kitty, one of the family members, is an ameteur event rider and BHS coach and realised that there was a lack of safe spaces to ride off road in the area. We have tried to provide something that will meet the needs of most riders. Whether you are looking for a gentle amble, taking in the views and watching the wildlife (we see buzzards, roe deer and muntjac everyday) or a faster ride with space for long canters and a good variety of straightforward fences we can provide both.

Booking Information

The ride costs £15 per horse or pony. Bookings can be made for arrival between 9am -11am, 11am -1pm and 1-3pm. You may spend as long as you wish on the ride, but we ask you to be finished riding by 5.30pm. Booking is done online. You must read the disclaimer and tick to say that everyone who will be using the ride in your booking has read this and will abide by the conditions. It is a requirement that everyone using the ride has public liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2million. The disclaimer can be found here: Once you have booked you will receive an automatic email confirmation. At least 24 hours prior to arrival you will be emailed with the code for the gate lock and sent a printable map of the ride. Bookings are restricted to a maximum of 4 horses/ponies per session, so you will have the time and space to enjoy the ride at your own speed. Where you do meet other riders on the course please pass each other considerately. If you wish to bring a larger group please email kitty@wellvalecountryride.co.uk or call 07970 801661 to arrange. Carriages are welcome but please contact us on kitty@wellvalecountryride.co.uk or call 07970 801661 to pre-book a slot as we keep carriage drivers and riders separate. If you and friends wish to bring a combination of driven and ridden horses, that is fine, but we know some riders prefer not to meet a carriage when out for a leisurely ride! The ride is suitable for most ages and abilities, with a minimum age of 8 years for riders. The full ride is 8 miles long, but there are points where a loop can be omitted to give shorter options. All the jumps are cross country in […]
